Organic Pennyoyal from our farm.

“Mentha pulegium” is a very aromatic plant, from the mint family.

Has calming, expectorant properties, used to treat flu and respiratory diseases, stimulates appetite and digestion, it’s an antiseptic and helps with skin scarring.

In cooking, the entire plant can be used, fresh or dried, but generally dried. Its flavor is very strong and should be used in moderation (see contraindications). It is part of traditional Alentejo cuisine and is also widely used in Asian cuisine. It is used to season salads, fish dishes, stews, soups and stew. It pairs especially well with fish, beans and tomatoes. It is also used for infusion and in drinks, namely to make pennyroyal liqueur, traditional in Alentejo.

Contraindications:

It should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding; for children under 6 years of age; for patients with gastrointestinal sensitivity or neurological diseases, and in high doses or for long periods.
