It is also a diuretic, expectorant and relieves menstrual pain. It is sometimes used as a poultice on the neck to treat stiff necks.<\/p><p>The leaves and flowers can be used fresh, but they are mostly used dried, preserved in small bouquets, and hung in the kitchen in the dark, throughout the year. It is perfect with tomatoes, whether in salads, soups or sauces. It is also used in meat, fish, pasta, potatoes, cheese, stews, vegetables and soups. It&#8217;s absolutelly essencial in our traditional recipe of snails in Alentejo.
